A Day at Apple Park

A Day in Apple Park | Experience California | StarLit Eyes!
Apple Inc. HQ, Cupertino, CA
The world's first trillion dollar company, one of the Big Four tech companies in the world, the world's largest technology company in terms of revenue and of course the producers of all things i- phone, watch, mac, pad etc , etc ...... the list goes on! With all its accolades and history, the hype around Apple Inc. is huge to say the least. And this hype doesn't just end with Apple products. No!! It extends to Apple offices too.

This culture of visiting and exploring Big Tech company offices, just as one would a museum, was a novelty to me. When I first came to the US, my husband suggested that we visit the Google Headquaters in Mountain View, California. His foolproof logic, pata nahi phir kab mauka mile? (we might not get a chance to visit it later). At that time, being new to the States, this seemed like an absurd idea to me. Why would I want to visit/ spend half a day looking around some random person's office desk! So, I countered him with a offer of my own. A visit to Golden Gate bridge (we haven't visited Google's HQ till date!).

Now, having spent time in the US. I understand the curiosity and urge to visit these company offices. They are places of innovation. They give insight into the brightest minds in the world. Thus, helping us understand where the world is headed in the next 25-30 years. They are a window into the brains of the true "movers and shakers" of the world.

Apple Park is one of the most elusive tech offices in the world. Up until recently, the office was not open for visitors and only apple employees were allowed inside the premises. My husband works at Apple Park. Everyday I would hear from him about the amazing space ship inspired office structure and facilities. So, when Apple opened the office for visitors in August this year, I jumped at the opportunity.

I wasn't disappointed! A disc shaped transparent glass edifice, Apple Park is a magnificent architectural feat. The outer beauty of the structure is mirrored inside. With white marbled floors and brass fixtures the office looks more like a high end luxury hotel than a work place. Built on the concept of bringing the outdoors inside, the common areas in the office house huge oak, redwood trees and several varieties of plants. The central area consists of a huge garden and a man-made pond. A beautiful rainbow structure erected in the garden pays homage to the proud LGBTQ community. The cost of construction of Apple Park is 5 billion dollars making it the most expensive office building in the world!

Visiting Apple Park was an amazing experience. I guess being the wife of an Apple employee does come with its perks (not to mention discounts on Apple products 😜)!
